Land Rover Houston Central

Getting behind the wheel of a Land Rover under these conditions is a truly eye opening experience. Many consumers believe Land Rovers to be no more than a luxury vehicle, few know the true capabilities.

We arrived in Seely Columbus Texas around 10:00 AM. With more than 30 Land Rovers and their owners lined up to take part in the 3 events that were planned for that day.
-The 2 Mile Off Road Course
-The Winching Demonstration
- The Blindfold Driving Exercise

The day started with a briefing conducted by the Land Rover Club. They discussed the conditions of the course (which ranged from moderately dry and sandy to a muddy thick soup). They also discussed the settings we should have our vehicles in.
Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and LR3
-The the elevation to the right height
-Set the transfer gear box to low
-Disengage dynamic stability
-Set terrain response to mud/ruts
LR2
-Set terrain response to mud/ruts

Although the LR2 is usually thought of as the "smaller vehicle" in Land Rover's line, it performed spectacularly. The driver took off onto the course without hesitation and ran the course in an impressive time.

This was my first time off-roading in a Land Rover and I was a bit skeptical at first myself, but after seeing first hand just what these vehicles are capable of, I fell in love. The technology they are equipped with make maneuvering through the off road conditions surprisingly easy. Vehicle response systems like downhill decent proved themselves valuable time and time again on this course.
