The amount that consumers spend on luxury goods is often a good pulse check for the economy. If people are confident in the economy then sales of luxury goods increases, so people must be feeling very confident since sales of new Land Rover vehicles jumped to record levels this June.
Compared to June of 2012, sales of new Land Rover models rose by 23 percent last month. In fact, our favorite British automaker hasn't had a June that good since the pre-recession days of 2007. The Range Rover Evoque really stepped up to the plate and sales for this specific model rose by 19 percent compared to last June.
Jaguar Land Rover North America President, Andy Goss, spoke about the recent rise in sales by saying, "Both brands are in an ideal position for growth as the all-new Range Rover Sport is arriving in showrooms this fall and Jaguar will continue to expand its product offering with the XJR and XKRS-GT."1
This spike in sales is very exciting because this could signal a return to normalcy in the market. We suspect that sales would have been even better if the new version of the Range Rover Sport wasn't due out in just a few months.
