We know this headline sounds like a nightmare to all the parents out there, and a dream to all the kids reading this who have yet hit the age to legally drive. Before people jump to judge us here at Land Rover Houston Central let us explain the idea behind what the brand is calling the "Start Off-Road" Program.
A few lucky British kids between the ages of 11 and 17 will be selected to enter what seems like a very advanced drivers education program designed to teach them proper off-road techniques. A brand new Range Rover Evoque will be outfitted with dual controls so a licensed driver can back-up the kids from the passenger seat and ensure their safety.
The course will teach the kids the following:
- Steering and driving techniques
- Reversing and slalom skills
- Climbing and descending hills
- Crossing ditches and ridges
- Driving in ruts and mud
- Properly making water crossings
I can imagine the kids chosen will forever be Land Rover fans after they complete the program, and it will be a once in a lifetime opportunity. We would like to take one of the Range Rover Evoque's from our showroom out on the course they set up, but I guess the children are our future and another fan of our brand is a good thing.
