We know the vehicles here at Land Rover Houston Central are tough, but every once in a while our brand likes to show off. Recently three Range Rover Hybrids left the factory in Solihull, England en route to Mumbai, India, following the ancient Silk Trail.
We are currently over 22 days into the journey, and the hybrid SUV's have slugged their way over 5,226 miles of unforgiving terrain. Most of the trail is off-road, which is a great test for the new Land Rover vehicles to see if they can live up to the brand standards.
So far the Range Rover hybrids have handled everything thrown at them, and as they pass through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan the only issues have been minor tire punctures and a cracked windshield.
With 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel engines paired with a 47 horsepower electric system the SUV's have averaged 40 miles per gallon on the journey, which is remarkable considering they are packed full of gear.
The start of the trip eased the vehicles into the world with simple roads through scenic European countryside, but now as they break away from civilization and enter remote territories the roads will be less forgiving. To keep in the loop with the Mumbai Journey follow our blog and we will update you with news from the Silk Trail.
Here in Houston, Texas we are proud of our brands reputation for off-road capabilities and durability. To check out what we have to offer take a peek at our inventory of new Land Rover vehicles, and if any catch your eye stop by our showroom and test drive one today.
