What comes to mind when you hear the phrase "innovation partner?" Clever engineering? Efficient machinery? Precise data analysis? Well, those are all resources that Land Rover now contributes to a partnership with Sir Ben Ainslie to support his sailing team's mission to take the America's Cup back to Britain.
Ben Ainslie is one of the most illustrious sailors in the world, winning five consecutive Olympic medals (the last four all gold) from 1996 to 2012. What began as team BAR (Ben Ainslie Racing) and is now named Land Rover BAR is his brainchild.
In The Telegraph, Ainslie wrote of the partnership, "Land Rover is, of course, a fantastic brand and the perfect partner for the team. It is British, hugely respected around the world and has a [well-founded] reputation both for innovation and strength. The only problem is that with 80-odd staff at the team there may be an unseemly scramble as we all try to get our hands on a car."
