The 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR Proves Itself a Master of Speed in China

What comes to mind when you think of an SUV? Perhaps towing, cargo capacity and off-road expertise come to mind. In the case of the 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR, you can add speed to that list. This SUV outperformed sports car legends along the infamous Tianmen Road in China, proving it as a force to be reckoned with.

The SVR Rundown

In March, a Panasonic Jaguar Racing driver named Ho-Pin Tung navigated all 99 turns of Tianmen Road in the new Range Rover Sport SVR, ultimately besting the previous record by 1 minutes and 40 seconds (note that the prior record was set by a Ferrari 458 Italia supercar in 2016).

As the fastest Land Rover design to ever grace the pavement, the Range Rover Sport SVR is powered by an enhanced V8 supercharged engine and achieves a 0-60 mph acceleration rate in just 4.3 seconds as well as a top speed of 174 mph. Lightweight materials craft the frame, body and chassis of the SUV as well as interior features like the SVR Performance seats.

You may not be able to take your Range Rover Sport to China, but the team at Land Rover Houston Central thinks you'll have plenty of fun through Houston's avenues.
