At Land Rover Houston Central, we are proud to bring the latest Defender lineup to our new inventory in the heart of Space City. If you are looking for an off-road capable luxury SUV, the Defender is one of the best and most well-rounded models in its class. Compared to other top off-roading SUVs like the Jeep Wrangler, the Defender offers more performance, versatility, and cabin luxury. Read on to see how the Defender stacks up next to the competition in Houston, TX, and beyond.

Performance

The new Defender offers far stronger standard performance than the Jeep Wrangler. The new Wrangler offers up to 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque through its standard 3.6-liter V6 engine, but the Defender easily beats it with up to 395 hp and 406 lb-ft through its 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine.

The Defender also offers a longer travel range when fully fueled. The Defender can travel 405 miles in the city and 476 miles on the highway, while the Wrangler maxes out at 298 miles / 403 miles, respectively.

Space

The Defender 90 is a comparable vehicle to the Jeep Wrangler Sport, a two-door adventure SUV. When it comes to interior space, the Defender 90 offers more room than the Wrangler, with up to 15.6 cubic feet of cargo space compared to the Wrangler’s 12.9 cubic feet.

Standard Features

The Defender also stands out when it comes to standard tech and safety systems. Features like heated seats, ventilated seats, a built-in sunroof, parking assistance, and adaptive cruise control are all included with the base Defender and are only optional for Wrangler models.
