The Land Rover Discovery debuted in 1989, with the first-ever model released in the UK. The Land Rover Discovery used several key features from the original Range Rover, including the four-wheel drive system and chassis. The Land Rover Discovery rode on its original release until 1998 when the Series II model debuted with a 5-door body style, a 4.0-liter gas engine, and driver's choice of 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.
