The first-ever  Range Rover  three-door model debuted in 1970. The first model bearing the Range Rover name was 1969's  Range Rover Velar  prototype. The 1970 Range Rover built on the prototype with a strong balance of performance, elegant design, and four-wheel drive consistency. 
In 1981, the first-ever four-door  Range Rover  hit the market, standing as one of the most popular luxury SUVs until the introduction of the second-generation Range Rover in 1994. The second-generation model added rectangular headlights, additional luxury features, and more.
